New planter on Petersham Road by the Dysart

Picture
New stone planter
In the summer of 2019, the trust funded the installation of a new stone planter on the Petersham Road opposite the Dysart. This replaced the derelict Virgin Media boxes which were removed from the site.

The project was a real community effort: Local residents organised the purchase and installation of the planter in collaboration with the Ham & Petersham London in Bloom group. And staff at  Petersham Nurseries kindly supplied the compost and plants and carried out the planting. The trough is cast from reconstituted stone and literally weighs a ton so hopefully has a very long life ahead of it.

These improvements follow on from the earlier work to replace the bollards - see below.

It was felt important to revitalise this much neglected area in the heart of the village by replacing the existing concrete bollards, many of which were damaged, and the Trust agreed to fund this work.

After consultations with the council, they agreed to carry out the work. This was successfully done and produced a much improved result.
